Dated 1984 - Circa. Desert Shield / Desert Storm
Based on the M1965 Extreme Cold Weather Parka, the 'Parka, Night Camouflage, Desert' began production in the 1980s and was used throughout DS/DS.
The camouflage pattern was designed to interrupt Soviet-era night vision by matching the pixelated display. However, by the time it was used in a combat environment it was deemed mostly ineffective. It did however maintain the function of protecting soldiers from the cold desert nights and the parka features internal buttons that accommodate a quilted liner. These parkas are designed to be worn over a combat uniform and are therefore quite oversized. They also do not feature pockets and the two flaps at waist height lead to slits which are designed to feed into the pockets of the combat uniform which would be worn underneath.
In near-mint condition with very minor signs of wear - The contract label is present and legible. All buttons, zips, fittings and fixtures are present and working. There are two small faded patches on the very lower portion of the 'tail' as seen in the third photo.
Labelled size small, but will fit a UK medium.
