Genuine Japanese Ground Self Defence Force issue

Dated 1981

Made from a hard-wearing mid-weight 50/50 cotton/vinylon blend twill fabric.

As to be expected for any Japanese garment, the quality of materials and tailoring is superb.

Displays originally applied cloth insignia including a name tape, 1st Lt. collar rank, and a 'Full Colour' Ranger qualification patch.

The YKK brand zip bears a Sakura (Cherry blossom) flower symbol on the puller - In the 1870s, the Japanese government planted Sakura trees at the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo where Japanese soldiers were laid to rest. The blossom flower was transformed from a benign symbol of cultural identity into a representation of the bravery of soldiers and their rebirth as the flowers. The Japanese Military adopted the symbol, decorating military uniforms and insignia, a tradition that remains to this day.

An ideal summer jacket or seasonal layering piece.

Excellent condition with minor signs of real wear - All buttons, fittings and fixtures are present. Small repair on the collar as seen.
