Genuine US Military issue
Rope coils such as this were carried in Vietnam by Special Forces, MACVSOG units, and LRRP teams (among others). The rope can be unraveled and fitted around the waist (known as a Swiss Seat), then hooked up to a helicopter's static line for fast extraction. These rope coils were also seen in use well beyond the Vietnam War.
