A truly outstanding vintage racing helmet. This article was found in its original box with all the original paper and cloth protective packaging. It includes a matching detachable brown leather peak and a detachable visor.
Commissioned by Herbert Johnson Hatters, London and made by Everitt Vero & Co. (Everoak) circa. 1950s. This is a very early piece of F-1 racing history.
Size Medium/Large - Adjustable to fit most head sizes.
The helmet is complete with all original fittings. The leather parts are in excellent condition for their age and all are supple and strong with light wear. All the metal fixtures are present and have some light cosmetic surface rust/patina as seen. There is a small cosmetic crack in the paint on the dome. The visor shows some scratches as seen. A very small section of the cork lining has come away from the edge of the left ear cup as seen - not particularly noticeable.
The last two images show a Herbert Johnson advertisement for a similar racing helmet and a photograph of Lex Davison wearing the advertised helmet during the Australian Grand Prix in 1962.
