Genuine US Civil Defence issue
Dated 1963
Issued during the height of the Cold War, these gas masks were designed for use by American civilians in the event of a nuclear, chemical or biological attack. It's thought that this mask set the design premise for the Vietnam War era XM28 "Grasshopper" chemical agent gas mask as it displays many similar features including the overall shape, waterproof bag, cheek filters, etc.
