Genuine British Army issue
Dated 1954
Worn throughout the Korean War, the 50 Pattern uniform was a welcome addition to the arsenal for British troops. Made from a robust, windproof 100% cotton sateen, fully lined with highly modernized features compared to the heavy wool, battledress uniform. Warm, durable, practical, and rather stylish. The overall design of the 50 pattern uniform was directly transferred over into the 60 pattern uniform and set the foundation for British Army combat uniforms for most of the later part of the 20th century.
The final photo shows men of the 1st Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment posed next to their South Korean counterparts circa 1954-1955.
An excellent trouser with a simple design and uniquely British features like a small dressing pocket and a single thigh-height cargo pocket. This example displays a bottle-green Swift brand zip.
Very good condition with minor signs of wear - The contact label is present and legible. All buttons, zips, fittings, and fixtures are present and legible. There are a couple of notable stains on the right knee as shown. There is a repair left leg as shown.
