Original British Military issue
A fantastic example of the classic Middle parka, complete with an original hood. Developed in the 1950s, the Middle parka is the British counterpart to the US Army's M51 and M65 fishtail parkas and saw an approximate service life of 20 years, throughout the Korean War and The Troubles in Ireland.
This example was manufactured under MoD contract by Invertere Coat Co. Ltd. It has a thick cotton sateen shell and an insulating wool pile lining. The main front closure is secured with a bottle green zip. The matching hood was made by A Whyman Ltd and includes a drawstring with wooden ball stoppers for easy handling with gloves.
Very good overall condition with some signs of real wear - All buttons, fittings and fixtures are present and working. The wool pile lining has some light mottling, but this will be entirely invisible when worn. The wire inside the hood is present and intact. The metal buckles on the cuffs have some surface rust. There are some small sporadic holes and staining/discolouration as shown. A solid, wearable winter warmer - please study the photos carefully.
