Genuine British Army issue
A fantastic example of the classic Middle parka, complete with the original hood. Developed during the Korean War, this parka draws inspiration from the American Army's 'Fishtail' parkas used in the same conflict.
Made by Cookson & Clegg, the parka shell is made from cotton sateen with a thick synthetic fur lining and is dated 1953. The main front closure is secured with an NZ-brand zip. The original hood includes a drawstring with wooden ball stoppers for easy handling with gloves and the internal wire remains intact.
The 1953 dated hood is designed for sizes 2, 5, and 7, matching the coat's size and date. Made by 'Newton Abbot', it bears a War Department broad arrow marking.
In excellent overall condition with very minor wear - All buttons, fittings and fixtures are present and working. There is a patch repair on the back as seen. There is some light sporadic staining as seen.
These parkas are designed to be oversized. This parka should be appropriate for a modern size large. Please compare the measurements to a similar garment in your wardrobe.
