Original US Military issue
The M-1951 field jacket carried over several design aspects and features from its predecessor, the M-1943. The overall design is very similar, with only a few key elements that were added or improved upon. The main front closure is secured with a zip, covered by a snap-fastener-lined flap and the pockets are also secured with snap-fasteners.
The Olive Green 107 (OG-107) shell is a treated 9-ounce wind-resistant cotton sateen, lined with a lightweight wind-resistant cotton poplin. There are buttons that accommodate a removable insulated liner that can be attached for colder weather. During the 1960s, many officers preferred the sharper look of the M-1951 instead of the then-standard M-1965 jacket.
Dated 1958
Displays an originally applied name tape with a lovely, atypical font.
Excellent condition with light wear - All buttons, fittings and fixtures are present. The contract label is present and mostly legible. There is some light sporadic discolouration around raised points as seen. A few of the internal buttons for the liner are cracked, but this does not affect general wear or aesthetic.
