100% cotton ripstop poplin
Circa 1950s
An amazing, uniquely custom, tailor-made chore jacket, made with repurposed Italian Telo Mimetico camo shelter halves. The fabric is a soft, midweight, 100% cotton wind and water-resistant canvas, printed with two stocks of the bright and vibrant M29 camouflage pattern. Most of the jacket is made with the Navy version, mostly utilised by the San Marco Marine Brigade, which boasts large, bold, russet-brown and ochre shapes on a bluish-green background. The collar, right side back panel, and two panels under the front closure are made with the Army version of the camo pattern, which features similarly coloured shapes, on a muted green background.
Stamped metal buttons secure the four pockets, main front closure and cuffs. There is a tailor-made patch on either arm, made with green felt on a grey canvas fabric - Likely rank or unit identifiers.
Excellent condition with light signs of wear - There is one cracked button on the lower right pocket, and a missing button on the left cuff - two spare buttons will be supplied if you wish to replace them. All other buttons, fittings and fixtures are present. The contract label is present and legible. Some fading/discolouration is present. There is a small hole under the lower right pocket, near the contract label as shown (invisible when worn). There is a small amount of damage under the button on the left cuff, but it is mostly unnoticeable when the jacket is worn.
