Genuine US Army issue
Circa 1950s
An excellent pair of trousers made with a robust 100% cotton, tightly-woven, wind-resistant sateen fabric.
Produced from 1951 onward, these trousers were worn as part of the M-1951 Cold Weather system (also including the M51 fishtail parka) throughout the Korean War and beyond until their replacement by the M65 Cold Weather system.
Well-worn, but far from abused, with beautiful patina, repairs and signs of real use. One snap on the rear right pocket has broken, but this does not particularly affect form or function - All other buttons, snaps, zips, fittings and fixtures are present and working. The canvas webbing straps are used to tighten the trousers around the thighs to improve impermeability to the elements; they may be tucked away inside either pocket when not in use.
