Genuine US Military issue
Circa. 1960s
A third pattern (P64) utility shirt with rounded pockets. Made from a soft, midweight 100% cotton selvedge sateen with a full-length button front closure and two chest pockets.
This shirt displays originally applied insignia including Vietnamese-made machine embroidered tapes, and Army Security Agency SSI and Specialist chevrons on the sleeves.
During the Vietnam War, the Army Security Agency (ASA) provided intelligence through signals intelligence (SIGINT), Human Intelligence (HUMINT), and electronic warfare operations. The ASA was responsible for intercepting enemy communications, monitoring radio transmissions, and decrypting coded messages, which helped inform military strategies and operations. Their work enabled the U.S. military to track North Vietnamese troop movements, identify targets for airstrikes, and detect enemy plans. Additionally, ASA personnel operated specialized equipment and conducted surveillance to protect U.S. forces from enemy communications and radar systems. Elements of the ASA worked with various Special Forces units.
Excellent condition with signs of real wear - All buttons, fittings and fixtures are present. Nice patina with some light discolouration/fading as seen. There is a small spot of damage on the front closure as seen.
