100% goatskin leather with a real mouton fur collar
This jacket was worn by Capt. W.F. McCaffrey who served with VMF(AW)-513 (Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (All Weather) 513) "Flying Nightmares" under Marine Aircraft Group 11 (MAG-11). This unit was active between 1958-1963, it was preceded by VMF(N)-513 and succeeded by VMFA-513. The unit flew Douglas F4D-1 Skyrays (a carrier-based supersonic fighter/interceptor) during the VMF (AW)-513 era. Throughout the Korean War until 1958, the unit flew Douglas F3D Skyknights (a twin-engined, mid-wing jet fighter aircraft). You may find a full unit history and photographs on this webpage:

McCaffrey later served with US Navy Training Squadron 2 (VT-2) in the 1960s when this jacket was worn. History of this unit may be found here: https://www.cnatra.navy.mil/tw5/vt2/history.asp
The patch on the right shoulder is unidentified, but it has been linked to the Naval Training Command and VT-2 by members of the US Militaria Forum:

The bullion MAG-11 patch is quite possibly an entirely unique and one-of-a-kind patch, bespokely made for Capt. McCaffrey. No other examples are known to exist.
The jacket is in very good condition for its age and displays some signs of real wear - The zip and all other buttons, fittings and fixtures are present and working. The leather is mostly strong and supple and wears well. The knits are in near-pristine condition with only very minor balling. There are two small holes, one on the right shoulder, and another near the left pocket, both shown in photos. The zip was replaced at some point with a Japanese YKK brand replacement - This work was likely completed when VMF(AW)-513 was stationed at Naval Air Station Atsugi in Japan. There is some other sporadic wear that may be observed in the photos - please study them carefully.
