An unusual boonie hat made for the civilian market of Asian origin (Likely Korean). The ERDL camouflage appears to be printed to Military specification, however, the fabric is lighter in weight compared to the typical 5 oz. poplin of the Tropical Combat Uniform (see last photo for comparison). It's speculated that the fabric was made under a Military contract but did not meet standards so it was discarded and sold as surplus, however, its true origin is unknown.
The hat is factory-made and other examples have been found with a very similar construction. It features a locally-produced camouflage sweatband, a cotton open-weave fabric lining, two brass eyelets on either side of the crown, and a lace chinstrap with a leather stopper. It displays illegible hand-written text on the lining as shown. The blue Airborne tab stitched to the front is Vietnamese-made.
