Genuine US Military issue
Circa. 1960s
An early 1st pattern (P58) utility shirt with squared pockets and brown dish buttons. Made from a soft, midweight 100% cotton selvedge sateen with a full-length button front closure and two chest pockets. Early contracts were stamped under the collar and later, a contract label was affixed to the inside-lower closure flap.
This shirt displays originally applied insignia including a cut-edge 101st Airborne Division SSI, silk gold-on-black jacquard woven US Army branch tape, and jump wings. The Sergeant rank chevrons and name tape were removed when the shirt was found but they were fortunately stowed in the right break pocket. They have been re-attached to restore the shirt to its original condition.
Excellent condition with light signs of real wear - All buttons, fittings and fixtures are present. The contract label is present but faded. There is light shadowing from a removed pocket patch on the left pocket. There is some light sporadic discolouration & staining as seen.
