An original, wartime Tigerstripe boonie hat made circa. 1960s.
A typical CISO-procured boonie made in Okinawa, Japan. The hat has been widened with an additional piece of Tigerstripe fabric added to the back. It features a black linen lining, a single seam on the rear of the circumference of the crown, and two small painted steel eyelets on either side. Uniquely to the specifications of this model, the metal eyelets do not perforate the black lining. The pattern is referred to by collectors as Classic/Okinawa or John Wayne Dense (JWD) by Johnson's nomenclature.
In beautiful condition showing signs of light use and real wear as seen.
