Circa. 1960s
Midweight 100% cotton selvedge twill
A beautiful tigerstripe pattern known as "Thai Tadpole Sparse (TTS)" with the Johnson nomenclature, otherwise known simply as "Thai pattern" by some collectors. TTS fabric was manufactured locally in Thailand, and this garment was tailor-made in the style of a Tropical Combat Uniform coat. It was very likely purchased and worn by a US serviceman.
This variant of TTS displays a dark colourway with bold black shapes, highlighted by a bright, muted-green background. The fabric is a soft, midweight 100% cotton twill. Learn more about Vietnam War-era tigerstripe patterns and their development in our article 'Tigerstripe Swatches'.
