Genuine US Military issue

Circa. 1960s

An early 1st pattern (P58) utility shirt with squared pockets and brown dish buttons. Made from a soft, midweight 100% cotton selvedge sateen with a full-length button front closure and two chest pockets. Early contracts were stamped under the collar and later, a contract label was affixed to the inside-lower closure flap.

This shirt displays originally applied insignia including a silk gold-on-black jacquard woven US Army branch tape and a Vietnamese-made embroidered black-on-white name tape. The epaulettes are custom-made. There is light shadowing from missing SSI on either shoulder - The left appears to be the 4th Infantry Division, and the right, 2nd Infantry Division. This shirt was likely worn by a CO circa 1966-1967 serving with the 4th ID in Vietnam, with prior wartime service in Korea with the 2nd ID

Excellent condition with signs of real wear - All buttons, fittings and fixtures are present. Nice patina with some light discolouration/fading as seen.
