A distinctive jacket associated with the Commandos de Chasse was the so-called Blouson Commando de Chasse. Operating in Algeria as highly mobile, light anti-guerrilla infantry, these units frequently undertook rapid movements and prolonged pursuits across difficult terrain.
The standard long TAP 47 camouflage jackets could prove cumbersome in this role, particularly around the hips where the equipment belt, ammunition and canteens were carried. As a practical solution, many jackets were shortened by local tailors or unit workshops. The lower portion of the jacket, including its two bottom pockets, was removed and a close-fitting waistband added in its place, effectively transforming the long field jacket into a short blouson.
This relatively simple alteration reduced bulk and provided considerably greater freedom of movement while retaining the upper pockets and other useful features of the original garment.
This example is entirely custom tailor-made in a similar style to a British Battledress or American Ike jacket. Constructed with genuine French Army issue 100% cotton HBT fabric, printed with the "F1" Lizard camouflage pattern. It displays genuine US Military metal 13-star buttons.
Excellent condition with light wear - All buttons, fittings, and fixtures are present and working.
