Genuine US Military issue
An example of the very rare experimental temperate jungle jacket. Very little is commonly known about these uniforms, but it is speculated that they were trialled at some point in the mid-late 1960s. There were two types that were issued in very limited numbers, firstly one made from a 100% cotton sateen (the same fabric as used on the utility uniform of the same era), secondly, as is the case with this example, one type was made with the same 100% cotton ripstop poplin as the regular Tropical Combat Uniform (TCU).
They are practically the same in design as the widely issued TCU, except for a notable few features such as a velcro strip to apply a name tape, fixed epaulettes, an atypical size label, and belt loops to accommodate a specifically designed waist belt (not present on this example).
Not much transpired beyond the trials, but it is quite an interesting developmental uniform nonetheless.
Excellent condition with light signs of real wear - All zips, snaps, fittings and fixtures are present and working. The contract label is present and mostly legible. There are some very light sporadic stains as shown.
