VF-194 is a US Navy fighter squadron with a rich history with its roots in the Korean War. Established in 1952 and active until its disestablishment in 1978, the unit primarily flew F-8 Crusaders and later transitioned to the iconic F-4 Phantom II. VF-194 served aboard various aircraft carriers as part of Carrier Air Wings deployed across the Pacific.
During the 1970s, VF-194 operated extensively in the Pacific and took part in key Cold War-era deployments. Flying F-4J Phantoms, the squadron was deployed aboard USS Oriskany and USS Coral Sea, conducting carrier operations, patrols, and exercises amid escalating tensions in Southeast Asia. Though Vietnam combat operations were winding down, VF-194 remained active in maintaining US naval air power and presence in the region until the squadron was disestablished in March 1978, as part of a post-war reduction in force.
Used throughout the 1960s and into the 1990s, the A-2 is an ideal basic winter warmer, made with a thick synthetic pile lining and robust cotton/nylon shell. It features a single chest pocket, zip & button front closure, storm cuffs, and two waist-level slash pockets to keep hands protected from the elements. A simple design with great styling potential.
Very good condition with light wear - All buttons, fittings and fixtures are present. The contract label is present and mostly legible. Strong colour. The knitted cuffs have some light damage. There is light sporadic staining as shown.
