Original US Military issue

Dated 1956

This jacket displays an originally applied silk gold-on-black jacquard woven US Army branch tape. Applied in the factory.

The M-1951 field jacket carried over several design aspects and features from its predecessor, the M-1943. The overall design is very similar, with only a few key elements that were added or improved upon. The main front closure is secured with a zip, covered by a snap-fastener-lined flap and the pockets are also secured with snap-fasteners.

The Olive Green 107 (OG-107) shell is a treated 9-ounce wind-resistant cotton sateen, lined with a lightweight wind-resistant cotton poplin. There are buttons that accommodate a removable insulated liner that can be attached for colder weather. During the 1960s, many officers preferred the sharper look of the M-1951 instead of the then-standard M-1965 jacket.

New, old stock in mint condition. Recently laundered. There is a very light stain on the left breast pocket as seen. There are a few other small, light marks from storage as shown.
