An anomalous webbing belt from an unknown origin. After some speculation and conference with other collectors, it has been determined that it is most likely from one of two origins:
An experimental 44 Pattern webbing belt from a British trial
- or -
A 44 Pattern-style belt, made in Britain under Iraqi contract for their forces
The steel and brass hardware are of good quality, unlike other Iraqi-contracted belts that are known. The hardware and fabrics are made in a style consistent with other British-made webbing.
Nevertheless, it is a rare and unusual webbing item.
