A fantastic and exceptionally well-preserved CISO indigenous uniform set, comprising a shirt and trousers, complete with its original US Military contract-stamped plastic packaging.
The Counter Insurgency Support Office (CISO) was established in Okinawa, Japan, in 1963 to procure and develop specialised clothing and equipment for US Special Forces and indigenous personnel operating in Vietnam. Under the direction of Conrad 'Ben' Baker, CISO produced a wide variety of experimental and purpose-built uniforms, camouflage clothing, webbing and field equipment, primarily for use by the Civilian Irregular Defense Group (CIDG) and later, MACV-SOG.
Produced without conventional US Military labels or markings, allowing them to be worn by indigenous troops and American Special Forces personnel operating on covert cross-border reconnaissance missions in Laos and Cambodia, where US involvement was officially denied.
Constructed from a lightweight khaki cotton poplin fabric, the shirt has two pleated chest pockets, exposed button front closure, and a simple open collar. The accompanying trousers feature a button fly, belt loops and two large button-fastened cargo pockets.
New, old stock in absolutely mint condition, retaining its original plastic packing bag, stamped 'COAT, FATIGUE' with US Military contract number DA 92-557-FEC-40074. Both garments are completely unworn, with no notable signs of wear or deterioration. All buttons, fittings and fixtures are present and working.
A particularly rare opportunity to acquire a complete, unissued CISO uniform set with its original packaging. An excellent example for the advanced Vietnam War, Special Forces or MACV-SOG collector.
