Original British Military issue
Dated 1952
A fantastic early example of a 1952 pattern (1st pattern) Middle parka with an attached hood. Developed in the 1950s, the Middle parka is the British counterpart to the US Army's M51 and M65 fishtail parkas and saw an approximate service life of 20 years, throughout the Korean War and The Troubles in Ireland.
This example was manufactured under MoD contract by Stormguard Ltd. These early models have a 100% cotton wind-resistant poplin shell and a thick wool pile lining. The main front closure is secured with a bottle green zip. The hood is fully lined and features a drawstring with wooden ball stoppers for easy handling with gloves.
Excellent condition with light signs of real wear - All buttons, fittings and fixtures are present and working. The wool pile lining is in pristine condition The wire inside the hood is present and intact. The metal buckles on the cuffs are free from rust. There is some very light sporadic staining/discolouration as shown. There is a small handmade repair on the left pocket as seen.
