Original Military issue
Dated 1954
Introduced in the early 1950s, these are a large, oversized pair of windproof deck trousers designed to be worn as an outer layer, over trousers and in unison with a smock made of the same fabric. They feature a drawstring waist, button fly, a button-secured pocket on the left thigh, and one rear pocket. The original suspenders are present and are sewn directly into the waist hem.
Made with a sublime 100% cotton ventile fabric, fully lined.
Good vintage condition with signs of real wear - All buttons, fittings and fixtures are present. The elasticity in the suspenders is still strong. One buckle is broken - This side of the suspenders has been stitched to keep its position. There is some staining and discolouration as seen. Both sides of the suspenders have been repaired. There is one small hole near the right cuff. A wonderful pair of dungarees with a unique design and immense character. They have a slight odour that may be washed out.
