An incredibly rare, entirely custom, Okinawa tailor-made combat vest, made with Advisor Dense (ADD) AKA "Purple" tigerstripe fabric.
Very likely worn by a member of MACV-SOG, the vest was made to the specifications of its original owner. It features six pouches for 20-round M16 magazines on the front and a further five on the rear, providing a total ammunition capacity of 220 rounds. A large zipped pocket is positioned on either breast for carrying various personal effects and equipment, with the right pocket deliberately cut slightly shorter to allow the butt of a rifle to be seated comfortably against the shoulder. The right-hand pocket is fitted with a Serval zipper, while the left is unbranded. Three buckled leather straps form the main front closure.
A truly superb, one-of-a-kind, and exceptionally rare piece of equipment. Worn by a member of the most elite fighting force during the Vietnam War period. It is undoubtedly one of the most special pieces of kit I have handled to date.
