Genuine British Army issue
Made by H. E. Textiles
Circa late 1970s-early 1980s.
A very rare P77 para smock, notably different to later models as it lacks a dressing pocket on the right shoulder. This example displays a lovely early 'dots' DPM print, a bottle-green NZ brand zip and Newey brand press studs. These are the direct successor to the Denison smock and were worn throughout the Falklands conflict.
Found in the bottom left pocket, a "Motor Mileage Allowance" letter identifies this jacket once belonged to one "Maj. Forbes" who travelled between South Cerney to Wroughton on the 29th April 1988. After some research, I believe I have been able to fully identify the original owner as Maj. Don Forbes, MBE, a commanding officer of 5 (HSF) Coy. 10th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment.
