Used throughout the Vietnam War, until the M17 masks were phased out in the 1990s
Designed as a "storm window" in cold climates to help prevent lenses from fogging. Later adopted as a standard-issue accessory to be used at all times on the ABC-M17 mask as a protective outer lens.
